  •  On-Field Training

    • In order to become a HS/MS official (either in person or online) you must also complete on-field training sessions.

    • This is in addition to:

      1.  Completing the class

      2.   Passing the rules test

      3.   Joining USA Lacrosse

      4.   Completing the concussion course

      5.   Registering with NJSIAA

    • On-field training is done at an all-day HS girls lacrosse playdate on March 29, 2025 at Pequannock High School. This is run by the NECII for the purpose of training and evaluating officials.  These games are scrimmages.  As a new official, you will be paired with an experienced official and will start out on the field shadowing that official and gradually taking over officiating the game.  This will be done over the course of 3 to 4 25-minute games.

    • If at the end of your sessions we think you are ready to start out on lower-level games, we will pass your name onto the game assignor.  The goal of the sessions is to get you ready to work with an experienced partner on lower-level games.  We don't expect you to be a perfect official after the sessions.  You will learn and get better as you do games and work with experienced officials.  Remember, there are always two officials on any HS/MS game.  You won't be alone.

    • If at the end of the session, we don't think you are quite ready some additional on-field training will be provided.  We want you to be successful.

      Note: On-field training is mandatory.

If you cannot make the playdate, you need to let us know as soon as possible.  While we can arrange alternative on-field training opportunities, however those opportunities are very limited due to the limited number of preseason scrimmages we can use for training.
